The HVAC industry is entering a new transition phase. With the phase-down of high-GWP refrigerants such as R410A, many systems in North Amercia are moving toward A2L refrigerants, including R454B and R32. While most discussions focus on refrigerants and system performance, an important aspect is often overlooked: A2L refrigerants are also changing how HVAC components are evaluated and certified. For OEMs developing new equipment platforms, this transition has direct implications for component selection, electrical safety, and UL certification requirements.
